Beaujolais - Region in east central France, often considered a part of Burgundy, but really quite distinct. The principal grape grown here is Gamay Noir. The grapes naturally high acidity, low tannins and low potential alcohol lends itself to exuberant, fruity wines. The 2013 Beaujolais Villages comes from 50-year-old vines on granite soils that undergo carbonic maceration and three months aging in wooden vats. It has a well-defined bouquet with vibrant red currant and Morello scents. The palate is very well-balanced with supple tannins, well-judged acidity and a harmonious, poised finish.
