Haut Poitou is a new appellation within the Loire valley located south of Touraine.  Even though the wines of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume are better known examples of the Sauvignon Blanc grape, this wine sings without shame the distinctive notes of the grape.  Expect plenty of citrus, grass, a touch of gooseberries, and even a hint of fresh savory.
