The highest village in Europe is "Kitzeck IM sausal", where the delicate "Kitz Ecker wine" has been made for centuries. The region has a particularly mild climate and the nutrient-rich shale bedrock ground (called also Sausaler floor ) Slatey with mineral edge, hints of peach and apricot. The vineyards are planted at altitudes of 380 to 650 meters above sea level. With an average incline of up to 80%, they belong to Europe´s steepest vineyard sites. Selective hand picked grapes, no crushing, gently very slowly pressed. Slow Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at temperatures around 20°C. Aging and batonage for several months. Since 1803, the Wohlmuth Winery has been a purely family-operated enterprise.
