92 Points—Pinot File, 90 pts Wine Enthusiast. Best of Class (Gold Medal)- New World International Wine Competition. The beautiful Kaufman Sunnyslope Vineyard is nestled in the western corner of the rugged Sonoma Mountain AVA. Planted with seven acres of premium Pinot Noir, it receives abundant sunshine with cooling Pacific breezes, allowing the berries to develop intense color and flavor on these rocky soils. Picked at a perfect ripeness after a long growing season, our Willowbrook Cellars 2012 Kaufman Sunnyslope Pinot Noir was fermented cool and aged in French oak barrels with minimal intervention. Dark blackberry aromas with a subtle floral element swirl on the nose. On the palate, this Pinot has a savory spice quality on entry leading to a deliciously rich mouthfeel with forward red cherry and sandalwood flavors. The end is focused and structured, typical of this high-altitude appellation, with hints of tobacco leaf and vanilla.
