Only 3 wineries in the entire world grow this grape. Chatus, pronounced (cha-two), is an ancient varietal that was from the Ardeche region in France, but was transported to the Piedmont region in Italy. There it is known as Nebbiolo de Dronero, the backbone of all great Piedmont wines (ie:Barolo and Barbaresco). Deep purple color, with a full bouquet of flowers and tanned leather in the nose. Powerful and yet, full of finesse, both supple and tannic with spices, black fruit and coffee notes.
