The Bernard Delmas Cuvee Berlene is sourced from their Estate vineyard in the village of Antugnac which is located in the Blanquette de Limoux AOC of the Languedoc in Southern France. The grapes are certified organic and Vegan approved, they also have obtained ECOCERT status, which is the standard for sustainable farming practices in France. The grapes used to produce Blanquette de Limoux are Mauzac (in this case 80%) and Chardonnay (20%). This wine is made in the Methode Champenoise style. I.e. the second fermentation (the one that gives the wine the bubbles) occurs in the bottle. The nose is yeasty bread and fresh sliced apples. The bubbles are plentiful and soft, they bring the flavors to your taste buds, then quickly evaporate. It tastes of tart citrus, lemon with a hint of lime, along with apple, there is yeasty fresh baked bread kicking in on the mid-palate. The over-all effect is creamy and smooth, but balanced by subdued, tart citrus. (Chardonnay)
